November Board Reflection

Our Annual Meeting of Owners was held virtually online from 6-7pm on Sunday, November 7th. The recording and annual report can both be seen at:Ā https://openharvest.coop/annual-report/.

An update on our relocation project was presented by our General Manager, Amy Tabor. Amy and the board have worked diligently alongside our national consultants fromĀ NationalĀ Co+op GrocersĀ andĀ Columinate to create a business plan and projected budget for the project, also known as a pro forma. This important planning process will inform what owner investments we need to fund the project, how a new store will look and feel, and the 2-year timeline we must execute to accomplish our critical checkpoints along the way.

As the end of 2021 comes to a close, we want to express our gratitude for our amazing staff who continue to support the day-to-day operations of our store, owners who continue to shop and support the board of directors, and the entire community who invests in Open Harvestā€™s future every time they shop. Your commitment to the financial health of our business allows us to achieve the community impact we all strive for. Your investment in Open Harvest allows us to continue to raise wages for staff and support their professional development. Your engagement makes sure we are serving your needs and the needs of the local community that have yet to walk through our doors.

We are excited to welcome our newly elected board members to the December 1st monthly board of directors meeting. Stop in sometime by registering for an upcoming meeting:Ā https://openharvest.coop/attend-board-meeting/.

Most importantly, as you celebrate connection, love, and life with family and friends in the coming weeks, please consider acknowledging the land we all occupy and the Native American community that has taken care of this colonized land for thousands of years. Consider beginning this process over the dinner table by first visiting:Ā https://native-land.ca/.

If we are to face the future climate change we all are currently facing, we must regularly acknowledge the past and current day realities to which we are connected to and in relationship with.

In cooperation,
Wally Graeber
