Operational & Store Safety Updates: March 26

This post may not be up-to-date. For the latest information, please visit us on Facebook. Store hours can also be found on our Contact page.

Whew! It’s been nearly a week since we’ve provided any formal updates. There is a lot to keep track of, so hopefully this summary will help keep all of the information clearly organized.

Hours
Friendly reminder that our store hours have changed to 10:00 am-8:00 pm daily, with special shopping hours for high risk customers from 9:00 – 10:00 am.

Deli
While our deli service counter & seating remains closed, our staff is doing a fantastic job of keeping our grab-n-go full of your favorites. You can find soups, salads, sides, sandwiches, wraps, meals and more. A select deli menu will soon be available online for curbside pick-up!

Checkout
To promote social distancing, we have placed signage and markers on the floor at checkout. We’re asking all shoppers to stand behind them while in line to ensure everyone remains six feet apart. We’ve also installed plexiglass barriers to protect our cashiers from exposure while scanning and bagging groceries.

Online Orders for Curbside Pickup
We are currently in the process of testing online orders for curbside pickup. If you are interested in helping test our new system for pickup on Monday 3/30 – Wednesday 4/1 – we are accepting a limited number of orders on these days – first come, first served. If you are interested please send an inquiry via e-mail at amy@openharvest.coop.

Staff
Last week we implemented several initiatives to take care of our staff and show our appreciation for their hard work during this crazy time. These include offering temporary bonus pay to anyone working and adjusting staff work schedules and work stations to limit exposure.

Other New Changes

Here are some important changes that are effective immediately until further notice:

  • No reusable produce or bulk containers (except for water)
  • If you choose to use select bulk items, you are required to use disposable gloves provided
  • For customer safety you may start seeing more packaged produce
  • No special orders, holds, or returns at this time

Closed for Inventory

Please note that we will be closing our doors to the public on Wednesday, April 1st to conduct our quarterly inventory, deep clean, and train staff on our upcoming curbside pick-up service. This is an important measure as we need to maintain social distancing as we work. Pre-arranged curbside pick-up test orders will be available on this day. In addition, it will provide staff an opportunity to catch their breath and enjoy a staff meal together.

We appreciate your patience and patronage during this time – we can’t wait to see you again!

In cooperation,

Amy Tabor

General Manager
